Let’s Talk Nipples!

We discuss the future of beauty and skincare with Dr. Lipp.

This multi-purpose concept that you are offering with your products, this is so refreshing to see, so tell me how did it all start? Where were you in life to start a brand like this?

I was in London when I had the idea, but was also on the move a lot, both from work straight out to an event or on and off airplanes. It just seemed to make so much sense to me. I couldn’t bring my whole beauty bag with me everywhere, it was too heavy with too much clutter to carry. So having a few but good multi-use products made so much sense to me.

What is your favourite product so far or favourite colour of your products?

It is still the ‘Original Nipple Balm for dry skin, luscious lips and glossy bits’, but having said that I’m super excited about the BFF which is launching this fall. I’ve secretly been using the BFF formula for years and can’t wait for it to come out.

As you have proudly stated on your vibrant site, ‘If it’s good enough for your nipples, it’s good enough for everywhere else’. Your products are natural as they are free from unnecessary chemicals, why do you think some brands continue to go the other way and not the way you are going?

Sometimes it’s as simple as, what you start with is not that easy to change. It means you have to change the whole messaging and positioning of your brand and that can be a big thing.

I can see that you have won many, many awards, congratulations, how does that feel and what are you focusing on for the future of this brand?

Great, and thank you. It means it’s working not just for me but for others too. That’s why I set out doing this in the first place!

What is your definition of luxury when it comes to beauty, skincare and everything else?

Something that works, i.e that does what it says it’s going to do, makes my life easier, and makes me smile is true luxury in my view. I think the term ‘Luxury’ often has too many connotations of vanity rather than functionality. But that’s probably the Norwegian in me.

As our lovely readers may be struggling between courses, careers and unfortunately now Corona, what would you recommend to those who might be feeling overwhelmed with professional and personal development?

Embrace it. I believe we are all here to personally develop and open our perception away from fear and into love. It is definitely not easy, but one rarely solves any problem by seeing things from one’s own perspective. It doesn’t make the other person right, but it can bring one closer to finding a solution. I love Joe Dispensa’s work – really worth getting to know.

What is your day-to-day routine like?

Yoga first thing in the morning, then am at my desk for the rest of the day. And if I’m lucky I’ll manage to squeeze in an afternoon hike and listen to the Marmottes.

How do you relax?

I do yoga, breathing meditations, hikes and love to dance. I need it because I live a very intense life so my off-time is often specially tailored to calm my nervous system.

What books are you reading or podcasts might you be listening to?

Right now I’m reading about one of my favourite the artists Hilma Af Klimt, she was a Swedish visionary, sorcerer and geometric artist.

Where do you see yourself and this brand in 5 years’ time?

In 5 years’ time, I see Dr.Lipp as the modern times version of Nivea but with compostable packaging; a simple and easy routine that fits all ages and skin types; and one that is easy to travel with, allowing us to live a more holistic and synchronised symbiosis with nature and ourselves. I would like it to be available to everybody and all.
