Picture this… The lockdown is finally lifted and everyone is finally allowed out to enjoy the beautiful weather in the UK. The beer gardens are full, beaches are busy and sports are back on TV. Summer is the best time of year for students; studies have finished and everyone is free to celebrate with friends and family. But after the shocking start we’ve had in 2020 what better way to celebrate than booking a holiday. Here’s five of my top picks for a summer holiday for after lockdown is over.
What better way to celebrate the end of the lockdown than going to the party capital of the world? The islands are full of beautiful beaches with pool parties and big events available every night. Ibiza is the perfect place to go with your friends to enjoy a week of celebrations and freedom. There’s all sorts of activities and water sports available in the day whilst you can enjoy stunning restaurants & clubs once the sun goes down.
Ibiza’s not only a great party island but also home to some beautiful scenery if you want a day to relax and explore one of Spain’s Balearic Islands. Why not enjoy the sunset on one of Ibiza’s many beaches or coastal restaurants
Don’t fancy Ibiza? Europe is full of beautiful places, especially during the summer. Rome is the capital of Italy and one of the top cultural cities in the world.
With a history dating back thousands of years its sure to be an amazing place for a city break this summer. If you want to take in the culture then you have to visit the top attractions including The Colosseum, Vatican City and The Pantheon as well as many of the other Roman remains that make up the city. It’s also a stunning place to relax with a coffee or ice cream and enjoy peaceful evening meals with live music and entertainment.
There aren’t many places in Europe that are much nicer than the South of France, especially during the summer. Cannes is one of the most sought-after destinations for the rich and famous. With beautiful beaches, posh restaurants and more designer shops than almost anywhere else in France.
Cannes is the place to be, whether you want to spend the day relaxing on the beach and shopping, or celeb-spotting as you explore the city.
One of the best times to go is during the annual Cannes Yachting Festival which takes place every September. The city comes alive with thousands of people coming to view some of the most expensive super yachts in the world and mingle with the rich and famous. You don’t have to be super rich to go and enjoy the atmosphere though with lots of restaurants and bars around the city to enjoy the festival.
Europe isn’t the only place to go this summer though, as thousands of students will pack their bags to go and travel around South East Asia once lockdown is over. Thailand is the place to go as backpackers flock to the country to experience everything it has to offer, and for good reason.
Thailand is the home of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world around the Islands in the south where you can be sure to see some of the best sunsets in the world. As well as stunning beaches, there are cities such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai where you can experience the busy city lifestyle: Street markets, live shows and cultural experiences as well as bars and restaurants.
Thailand is a great place to go for students because aside from the flights, living costs in South East Asia are considerably lower than the UK meaning we can go for longer periods of time to really explore the country and immerse yourself in the culture.
Have a Staycation
The UK is an amazing country and when the sun is shining on a beautiful summers’ day there really is no better place to be. You don’t need to spend hundreds on flight to have a great time as there are so many amazing places you could visit in the UK for a summer holiday, whether you want stunning beaches, rolling hills or even woodlands. There’s also so many ways to do it depending on your budget and how adventurous you’re feeling. Why not pick up a tent and head off to one of our many campsites around the country to pitch a tent and sit around the campfire with friends and family.
Below is a list of just a few of the best places to go for a staycation in the UK:
- Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, Dorset
- Edinburgh, Scotland
- Isle of White
- Lake District
- Snowdonia, Wales
There’s something for everyone, whether you want a week of partying; a cultural city break; the backpacking trip of a lifetime or even a staycation to enjoy our own beautiful country. Be sure to let us know where you’ll be going after lockdown finishes in the comments.
